Charlene Maguire is a yoga teacher/artist/advocate of good health originally from Massachusetts and has happily landed here in California. Her life altering journey with Yoga began in 2001 with Baron Baptiste style flow yoga. Within the first year of a regular practice, her body started opening up in amazing ways. This lead to a tearful breakdown in class one day, and a need to understand why that had happened. She learned about the incredible amount of emotional energy stored in our bodies, how much she had been holding in, and an intense journey of emotional discovery and healing began. A move to California brought her to more healing, other yoga styles, and incredible teachers. In 2009 she completed her first teacher training. She looks forward to creative teaching that incorporates the all important breath, flow, music, playfulness, and moving energy towards helping students to learn about themselves from their own practice.
Private Instruction
A yoga practice should be designed by a teacher for an individual students goals and body. Private yoga instruction is the best way to develop a personal practice for your specific needs. During our sessions, I will design a customized sequence that can be taken home and used for your home practice based on what will work for you. In follow up sessions we will assess how the practice is serving you, and adjust accordingly. A personal yoga practice can address a wide variety of health concerns, injuries, or to just simply help you unwind and release stress from a hectic daily schedule.
Your best results will be achieved with a consistent practice. I recommend a session at least once a week for 5-10 weeks.
Yoga for the Corporate Environment
Did you know that companies who offer yoga and wellness programs to their employees reduce their annual health insurance premiums? Yoga helps to improve concentration and performance by lessening stress-related illnesses
and sickness in general. A regular practice will help employees relieve injuries from repetitive motion such as carpal tunnel, and lifting and/or moving objects. It will also help relieve sedentary issues that arise such as high blood pressure, insomnia, and head, neck and back strain (sitting hunched over at a computer all day!). Along with the physical benefits, yoga also will improve mood and help create an emotional well being.
Depending on your company's needs, I can create a progam to fit it!

A little inspiration for a life journey...
Life, it’s ever so strange
It’s so full of change
Think that you’ve worked it out
then BANG
Right out of the blue
Something happens to you
To throw you off course...
and then you
Breakdown
Yeah you breakdown
Well don’t you breakdown
Listen to me
Because...
It’s just a ride, it’s just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It’ll take you round and round
Sometimes you’re up
sometimes you’re down
It’s just a ride, it’s just a ride
don’t be scared
don’t hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don’t forget it’s just a ride!
Slowly, oh so very slowly
accept that
there’s no getting off
So live it, just gotta go with it
coz this ride’s, never gonna stop...
It’s just a ride, it’s just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It’ll take you all around
Sometimes you’re up
sometimes you’re down
It’s just a ride, it’s just a ride
don’t be scared now
dry your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but dont forget enjoy the ride.
Listen to the song...
What is Yoga?
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "Yuj" meaning to yoke, join or unite. This implies joining or integrating all aspects of the individual - body with mind and mind with soul - to achieve a happy, balanced, and useful life. Spiritually, it unites the individual with the supreme.
The practice and study of yoga helps to bring about a natural balance of body
and mind in which good health can manifest itself. The practice creates an internal environment that allows the individual to come to his own state of dynamic balance, or health. Yoga teaches that a healthy person is a harmoniously integrated unit of body, mind and spirit. Therefore, good health requires a simple, natural diet, exercise in fresh air, a calm and untroubled mind and the awareness that main's deepest and highest self is identical with the spirit/energy of the universe. For many yoga devotees, the practice becomes a philosophy that offers instruction and insight into every aspect of life: the spiritual, the mental and the physical.
